The above link will get you to an application for up to $17,500 loan forgiveness for Stafford loans if you have served 5 years as a teacher in a Title 1 school.  Well worth the look-see for anyone not making enough money and drowning in student debt.  That would be me.

  1. Oh, Loan Forgiveness. Perhaps I *should* stick with teaching for financial reasons. Who’da thunk?

  2. Not everyone is eligible. It depends when you took your loans out. I know because I wasn’t eligible

  3. Yeah, read the fine print. There’s all sorts of year and school requirement. Fiona, it’s a good idea to plan for the loan forgiveness…before you take out the loan. I’m glad I found out about this program before I applied for the loans. It won’t pay for even a quarter of the my outstanding loan, but it’s still $5,000.
