Here is a money math center activity that I’ve used in my class. It is fun, almost “real world”, and because we use Open Court Reading 2002 in our third grade class, connects our literacy unit with math.

A small group of student can do the activity at the same time.

Materials:

  • A catalogue
  • A folder with directions
  • A calculator
  • Paper and pencils

The Directions:

  1. Look at the toy magazine
  2. List the item that you would like to buy, along with the price
  3. Add up the prices
  4. You have a $500 limit
  5. Have fun!
